TOP RYKER TIPS FOR NEW RIDERS

TOP RYKER TIPS FOR NEW RIDERS

Are you thinking about buying a Ryker? Then this is the perfect article for you.

IS A RYKER RIGHT FOR ME?

If you’re juggling between getting a Ryker vs Spyder, or any other 3WV, you want to determine what you’re going to use it for. If you are thinking about long-distance riding or touring with heaps of storage space and comfort, check out the Spyder F3 and RT. Ryker on the other hand is the smallest and most affordable 3WV on the market and has a learner approved 600cc model. They have an automatic transmission that relies on a twist and go, designed to keep your vehicle performance and fuel efficiency in perfect balance. It’s also low and lean with sporty handling which makes it perfect for riding around town, the highway and even commuting to work.

There are two variants available - the standard Ryker which is designed to handle light-duty gravel roads, and the Rally Edition that is designed for more of an off-road experience having a higher ground clearance than the Ryker. If you’re juggling between the models, why not test these guys out by booking a demo on the Can-Am Ryker or the Rally Edition.

THE 300 KM BREAK-IN PERIOD

When you first get your Ryker, there is a 300 km break-in period which you can find in the owner’s manual. During this period, we highly recommend following the manual to ensure the longevity of your new trike. When it comes to brakes and tires, avoid hard braking as they do not operate at their maximum efficiency until their brake-in is fully completed.

HOW TO AVOID THE LIMP MODE (V.S.S)

A common problem that new riders face is the V.S.S mode or the limp mode. This is when you’re riding the bike and your foot is on the throttle and on the brake at the same time. Your bike will go into a limp mode where you will see the V.S.S. reading on your display and then it will shut down. To avoid this problem, don’t ride with the throttle and brake at the same time. The best way to brake is to ease off the throttle so your bike will roll itself into a brake. Once you take your hand off the throttle, it will decelerate and come to a complete stop.

RIDING POSITIONS

Just like a car, you want to make sure that you are riding in comfort. Did you want to ride more aggressively by leaning forward, or a more relaxed cruise-type position where you sit more upright? There are footpegs and brake pedals that you can adjust to the Ryker to accommodate your riding style. There are also many accessories that you can also get for your Ryker. A popular choice is the 1-Up Driver Backrest that supports your back especially if you ride in a more relaxed position. If you want to customise your ride, there are colour panels that you can easily snap on and change depending on your mood or outfit plus plenty more accessories to choose from.
